Wax & Sealant
Quick shine, enhanced protection, and easy application – that’s the promise of wax and sealants
But is it really that simple? Wax and sealants are products that, when applied correctly—i.e., with proper preparation and polishing—can deliver very long-lasting results. The main difference between wax and sealants lies in their composition and the properties they offer. The choice depends on individual needs, preferences, and the desired level of protection.
Wax:
- Wax is a natural or synthetic blend of waxes, oils, and resins
- It is available as a paste, liquid wax, or spray wax
- Wax is applied to the surface and forms a protective layer that repels water, dirt, UV rays, and other environmental influences
- It provides a good shine and gives the surface a smooth and glossy appearance
- Wax is relatively easy to apply and can be reapplied at regular intervals to maintain protection
- The durability of wax is somewhat limited compared to sealants; it may need to be reapplied after a few weeks or months
Sealant:
- A sealant typically consists of a synthetic polymer or ceramic formula
- It is usually applied as a liquid product and forms a protective layer on the surface after curing
- A sealant offers longer durability and better protection than wax; it can last several months or even years, depending on the product quality and environmental conditions
- It creates a harder and more resistant barrier against water, dirt, chemicals, and UV rays than wax
- Sealants can leave either a glossy or matte finish, depending on the product and user preference
- Compared to wax, applying a sealant often requires more effort and more thorough surface preparation
