Dyeing BMW leather seats - refresh and neatly recolour smooth leather

Anyone looking to dye BMW leather seats or refresh worn automotive leather usually wants one thing: to make faded, stained or uneven areas look consistent again. This water-based BMW leather dye is designed for exactly that purpose. It is suitable for tinting, touching up and recolouring pigmented smooth leather. The existing shade can also be adjusted slightly. 100 ml is sufficient for approx. 1-2 seat units, depending on the size, absorbency and condition of the leather.

An even colour appearance when dyeing seat leather

When dyeing leather in a BMW, the aim is controlled colour blending. Faded bolsters, entry areas, seat panels and armrests look calmer and more even after treatment. Apply the dye in thin coats from seam to seam to avoid visible transitions between treated and untreated areas.

Selecting BMW leather dye by colour code

The required shade can be selected using the available BMW colour codes. However, sunlight, body oils, care products, abrasion and ageing may have changed the leather currently fitted in the vehicle. If its present shade differs significantly from the original colour code, we recommend a colour analysis and custom mixture based on a leather sample.

What leather dye cannot repair

Leather dye can correct colour loss and visual irregularities, but it cannot replace the repair of deep cracks or missing material. Such damage must be repaired properly before colouring. The repaired areas are then dyed and blended evenly with the surrounding surface.

Correct application determines the result

The preparation and application process largely determines how even and durable the result will be. The BMW leather must be cleaned thoroughly, completely degreased and repaired where necessary. Residues from body oils, silicone or leather care products can impair adhesion and cause stains.

Apply the leather dye sparingly and evenly in thin coats. Allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next one. Once the final coat has dried, a suitable leather sealant helps protect the treated surface against abrasion and renewed soiling.
