COLOURLOCK Fluid Leather 20 ml is a flexible filler for small holes, cracks, deep scratches and breaks in leather and imitation leather. It fills and bonds the damaged area while remaining soft and flexible after drying.

Fluid Leather is available in standard, special and individually matched colours. The filler dries glossier than the surrounding surface and must therefore be finished with matching Leather Fresh.

Application

Clean and degrease the leather, then prepare loose or rough areas correctly.
Apply Fluid Leather to the damaged area and smooth it with a suitable spatula.
Allow one to two hours at room temperature depending on the amount applied. Do not use a hair dryer.
Build up further thin layers as the material contracts slightly during drying.
Smooth imperfections carefully with the GLD-Solvent Pen and finish with matching Leather Fresh.

Important: Do not dry-sand Fluid Leather or accelerate drying with heat. Finish the repair with Leather Fresh afterwards.

COLOURLOCK Fluid Leather 20 ml - detailed application instructions

Preparation

Fluid Leather is intended for small cracks, depressions and missing areas in surface-coloured smooth leather and artificial leather. Large, through-going or structural damage requires professional repair.
Clean the intact surrounding area. Degrease the repair area thoroughly with Degreaser and allow it to dry completely.
Smooth rough edges with the Sanding Pad using low pressure. Completely remove loose fibres and sanding dust.
Test the colour on a hidden spot. Fluid Leather dries glossy and must always be over-coloured with a suitable Leather Fresh.
Prepare the spatula, GLD-Solvent Pen and matching leather colour for the complete repair process.

Step-by-step application

Place a small amount of Fluid Leather directly into the damaged area.
Spread it evenly with the spatula and level it as closely as possible with the surrounding leather surface.
Allow it to dry for one to two hours depending on the amount applied and the ambient temperature.
Because Fluid Leather shrinks while drying, inspect the depression and apply another thin layer if required.
Repeat filling and drying until the damaged area is evenly filled.
Do not accelerate drying with a hairdryer and do not sand the dried repair while dry.
Carefully soften and smooth the dry surface with very little GLD-Solvent from the pen. Do not work into the intact colour layer.
Allow it to dry fully again, then colour-match it with a suitable Leather Fresh applied in thin coats.
Allow the coloured repair to dry for one day before conditioning or protection.

Aftercare and maintenance

After one day, treat with a suitable leather conditioner and, where appropriate, add protection on high-wear areas.
Inspect the repair regularly. A repeatedly reopening area may indicate deeper structural damage.

Important information

Fluid Leather fills and bonds smaller damage, but it is not a structural adhesive and does not replace backing or seam repair.
Do not sand it dry and do not dry it with a hairdryer.
Use GLD-Solvent sparingly and follow its safety labelling.
