COLOURLOCK Sanding Pad - smooth leather before repair and colouring

The COLOURLOCK Sanding Pad is a versatile tool for smoothing, cleaning and preparing leather surfaces. It is used before repairs or colour refresh when worn areas have become rough.

It can also carefully level uneven Leather Fresh application. On suitable suede surfaces it can assist with stains, while light pilling on Alcantara can be reduced.

Application

Clean the surface and test the pad on a hidden area.
Move the pad evenly over the area without heavy pressure.
Remove all sanding dust before applying repair or colour products.
Rinse the pad with water after use and allow it to dry completely.

Suitable for and important notes

For suitable leather surfaces, local suede work and light Alcantara pilling. Supplied as 1 piece.

Important: Always use minimal pressure. On heavily damaged Alcantara or deep leather damage, the pad does not replace professional repair.

COLOURLOCK Sanding Pad - detailed application instructions

Preparation

Before sanding, determine whether the surface really needs smoothing. Do not work on intact grain unnecessarily.
Clean and dry the area. Dirt trapped between the pad and leather can cause deep scratches.
Test on a hidden spot to see how quickly the existing colour or top layer is removed.
Use the pad clean, dry and free from hard particles. Both sides can be used.

Step-by-step application

Lay the pad flat and guide it in small circular movements using very low pressure.
Smooth only raised rough fibres or repair edges. Do not try to remove deep scratches by taking off excessive material.
Wipe the work area frequently and inspect progress under good lighting.
Before Leather Fresh or Fluid Leather, sand only until the surface is even and free from loose edges.
On suede or nubuck, work extremely carefully on greasy matted areas and then raise the nap.
On Alcantara, treat only light pilling with minimal pressure. Stop immediately if the nap is visibly damaged.
Completely remove sanding dust according to the subsequent repair process.
Wash a dirty pad with water and allow it to dry completely before reuse.

Aftercare and maintenance

After sanding, perform the degreasing, filling, colouring or protective step specified for the repair process.
Replace the pad if its abrasive surface is uneven, damaged or contaminated with residue that cannot be removed.

Important information

Excessive pressure can sand through the colour and top layer or irreversibly alter the natural grain.
Do not experiment on an unsafe or structurally damaged leather component.
