COLOURLOCK Leather Primer 250 ml - improve leather colour adhesion

COLOURLOCK Leather Primer 250 ml is the adhesion promoter between the prepared leather substrate and the subsequent leather colour. The primer penetrates the leather and supports an even, durable colour build-up.

Improved adhesion can reduce the amount of colour required. Leather Primer remains soft to the touch and is also used to prepare repairs on cracks and breaks.

Application

  1. Clean and degrease the leather correctly for its type, then allow it to dry.
  2. Shake Leather Primer and test it on a hidden area.
  3. Spray on a thin coat. Spray application is the preferred method.
  4. On cracks and breaks, the product can be applied locally with a brush or sponge.
  5. Allow it to dry according to the application instructions before applying colour.

COLOURLOCK Leather Primer 250 ml - detailed application instructions

Preparation

  • Leather Primer is a professional adhesion promoter for leather and artificial-leather repairs within the COLOURLOCK colouring system. Use it only with knowledge of the complete repair and coating process.
  • Clean the leather according to the repair, sand rough areas with low pressure and completely remove sanding dust.
  • Degrease the surface thoroughly and allow it to dry fully. Oil, silicone or cleaner residue prevents reliable adhesion.
  • Assess porosity. Highly absorbent damaged areas require more primer than intact, low-porosity surfaces.
  • Wear protective gloves and eye protection, provide good ventilation and mask adjacent areas. Shake the product and test on a hidden spot.

Step-by-step application

  1. For an even professional surface, preferably apply Primer thinly with a suitable spray gun.
  2. Overlap spray passes evenly and avoid thick, wet coats.
  3. On breaks or highly absorbent individual areas, work Primer in precisely with a brush or sponge.
  4. On porous areas, use only as much product as required for even wetting and adhesion.
  5. Inspect edges, seams and recesses for product build-up.
  6. Allow Primer to dry completely before applying the matching leather colour.
  7. Build the subsequent colour in thin, even coats according to the instructions for the COLOURLOCK colouring system used.

Aftercare and maintenance

  • After the colour layer, apply the Top Coat specified for the particular system. Condition or protect only after complete curing.
  • Clean the spray equipment immediately in accordance with the instructions for the system used.

  • For professional users. Incorrect film thickness or incomplete degreasing can cause adhesion problems.
  • May cause an allergic skin reaction. Follow the label and safety data sheet, wear protective gloves and do not inhale aerosols or vapour.
