COLOURLOCK Classic Car Leather Care Set - care for dry classic-car leather

The COLOURLOCK Classic Car Leather Care Set is designed for old, dry and hardened smooth leather in classic and modern-classic vehicles. It combines mild cleaning with gradual softening and final surface care.

Old Leather Softener is used after cleaning and requires time to absorb. Elephant Leather Preserver is then applied sparingly to care for and protect the surface. The kit is intended to help preserve valuable historic interiors.

Application

Test all products on a hidden area first. Foam Leather Cleaner Mild in the foamer and clean the leather.
Remove cleaner residue with a slightly damp cloth and allow the leather to dry completely.
Apply Old Leather Softener evenly, massage it in and allow at least 24 hours at room temperature.
Remove excess or unabsorbed residue with Leather Cleaner Mild.
Apply Elephant Leather Preserver very sparingly, leave overnight and polish thoroughly the next day.

Suitable for and important notes

For old, dry and hardened smooth leather in classic and modern-classic vehicles. Not every damaged leather surface can be fully restored.

Important: Avoid over-conditioning. Several light treatments are preferable to one heavy application. Keep the leather away from direct sunlight and cold during absorption.

Preparation

Carefully inspect the condition, leather type and stability of the old colour or top layer. Brittle, flaking or structurally damaged areas should be professionally assessed before conditioning.
Test all components in sequence on a hidden spot. Aged leather may absorb unevenly and change in colour depth.
Carefully vacuum dust and loose particles. Fill the foamer bottle with Leather Cleaner Mild.
Keep the vehicle at room temperature and protected from direct sun and cold during treatment.

Step-by-step application

Apply cleaning foam to the sponge and clean from seam to seam. Gently loosen dirt in the grain with the brush.
Pick up loosened dirt and foam with a slightly damp cloth. Allow the leather to dry completely.
Place Old Leather Softener on a cloth or sponge and massage it evenly into the dry leather. After each treatment, gently roll and knead the leather to loosen the fibres.
Leave the leather to rest for 24 hours at room temperature. Protect it from direct sun, heat sources and cold.
If the leather is still dry and absorbent after 24 hours, apply another thin coat of Softener. Repeat if required, but use no more than three applications in total.
If clear residue remains on the surface after 24 hours, the leather is saturated. Carefully remove excess with Leather Cleaner Mild and allow it to dry again.
Apply Elephant Leather Preserver very thinly with a clean cloth and without heavy pressure.
Leave the preserver overnight and buff off excess product with a clean cloth the following day.
If the product or leather is cold, gently warm both to hand temperature with a hairdryer so the thin coat can be distributed evenly.

Aftercare and maintenance

Condition aged leather sparingly and inspect its condition regularly.
For normal use, the manufacturer recommends maintenance every six to twelve months.
Before each maintenance treatment, clean gently and allow the leather to dry fully.

Important information

Avoid over-conditioning. Excess oil or grease can weaken an old coating, leave the surface greasy and attract dirt.
The set does not repair cracks, missing material or detached colour layers.
